Join the Network – List your choir or singing group

Please check that all the required fields are filled in below.

If you run a choir or singing group in Scotland that has an inclusive approach when it comes to welcoming and including people living with dementia, you can join the network and be featured on a new online search tool and map. This will be available very soon, and will promote dementia inclusive singing opportunities across the country.

The first step is to complete our self-evaluation form. This form takes you through the dementia inclusive principles of the singing network. If your group is partly or fully achieving these principles, you will be able to take the next step which is to complete the sign-up form to join the network.

Self-evaluation form

We have identified a number of principles as essential features of groups who welcome and include people living with dementia, and created a self-evaluation form to help you assess your choir or singing group’s current approach to dementia inclusion.

If your group is partly or fully achieving ALL principles and your group is based in Scotland, you are eligible to join the Dementia Inclusive Singing Network. You do not need to share your answers with us, but please complete the self-evaluation form before you complete the form to join the network.

If your group would like to be dementia-inclusive but you are not currently achieving all the principles, then we hope the form is a helpful tool for you to reflect on your practice and build on it.

Check out Luminate’s Dementia Inclusive Singing Network Guides to find out practical ways you can improve your group’s inclusivity for people living with dementia!

Make sure to tell us if your group is defined by any characteristics such as culture, heritage, language, age, gender or voice type? Tell us a little about the music you sing and the structure of a typical session to help people who are thinking about joining.

Example

The Singing Network Choir is a fun community choir that was founded in 2019. It is a mixed-voice choir that is open to people of all ages, and new members are always welcome. We sing a wide range of classic songs in lots of styles, from popular hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s, through to traditional Scots songs and songs from the stage and screen. We normally rehearse each Tuesday afternoon for about an hour, including a 15 minute refreshment break. We enjoy socialising over tea and cake at the end of every rehearsal too! For those who wish to take part, we put on an informal performance in May each year for family, friends and members of the local community.

Example only. The Singing Network Choir does not exist.
