Running dementia-inclusive singing sessions online

Nothing can replace face-to-face engagement but at a time when so many older people and people affected by dementia are at risk of social isolation and loneliness, finding creative ways to help them connect has never been more important.

This session led by Age Scotland’s dementia training team will focus on techniques and approaches to dementia inclusion in online singing sessions. It will explore the benefits and challenges for choirs and singing groups of running these sessions using video conferencing technology. There will be practical advice on how to overcome obstacles, and opportunities to share and discuss experiences and learning.

This event is being delivered via Zoom. Once you register you’ll be sent details of how to join the session. Please note that places for this session are limited and open to Dementia Inclusion Singing Network members only. Join the Network today at: https://singing.luminatescotland.org/join-the-network/.

Who is this event for?

This event is aimed at community choir and singing group leaders, organisers and volunteers, and care home staff and community leaders, who have some familiarity with dementia inclusion, or have taken part in the Age Scotland led general dementia inclusion training held on 16th October. The session will provide more in-depth guidance on how to implement dementia inclusive strategies specifically in online singing sessions, for those who lead or would like to lead singing activities that support people affected by dementia.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can call Luminate on 0131 668 8066 or email singing@luminatescotland.org. If you have any online access needs, please let us know when you are booking.
