About

Memory Spinners is a fun and friendly group for people living with dementia and their carers. Started by Scottish Opera in 2012, the group meets weekly on Monday afternoons in Glasgow. Using music, storytelling, movement and the visual arts, the programme helps people with dementia and their carers relax, get creative and form new support networks. Sessions start with tea and coffee and a light lunch, and the chance for friends to catch up and socialise. We sing a wide range of music, from traditional Scottish songs, pop music, songs from stage and screen, and even write our own song lyrics set to operatic music. Throughout each eight-week term, we share memories that are then incorporated into a relaxed performance for friends and family.
